This scheme is being implemented with the financial assistance of the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India and Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Assam since 2012-13, with funding pattern of 90 : 10. Prime objective of the project is for opularisation and capacity building through state-of-art communication tools and technology with thematic galleries, large number of interactive exhibits and scientific parks. 250 Bigha of land near Najirakhat, Sonapur, Dist. Kamrup(M), was received from the DC, Kamrup(M) in the year 2014 and the whole plot of land is in our possession. The process for construction of the Science City, Guwahati has already been taken up in technical collaboration with National Council for Science Museums, Kolkata. Architectural design of the Science City has already been finalised and construction of buildings is going to start very soon. PHED has installed a Deep Tube Well and construction of the allied units is going going to start very shortly. Construction work of boundary wall (Phase - I) of 1.83 Km length has been started and out of that 400 m has already been constructed by PWD (B).
